Winter Keeps on Going!

We've had more snow this winter than we've had in the past 10 years! I heard on the news that 49 states had measurable snow yesterday. Kids all over the deep South are making their first snowman and finding ways to slide down hills!

I have noticed signs of Spring in the past few days--some crocuses are peeking out of the ground and several large flocks of Canadian Geese have been spotted in the campground meadows. We can only hope they're on their way back North!

Here at Flaming Arrow Campground the best sign of Spring is when campers are coming up the road! Make your plans now for a spring camping trip and enjoy this special:

Two for the Price of One: Now through April 19th, bring a friend in their RV and you both camp for the price of one!! Two night minimum stay--call ahead and get two sites side by side.

Road Closure Information

October brought lots of rain to the Mountains causing two rock slides to major highways. I-40 is closed at milemarker 3 in North Carolina, and Highway 64 is closed near the Ocoee Gorge. It will be months before the roads are cleared. (Could we put some folks to work clearing the roads?!)

Anyway...If you're coming from the South or East of Cherokee the roads are open and the routes stay the same. If you're coming from the North or West give us a call and we'll help you get here by an alternate route. Don't trust your GPS to get you around the rock slides--some folks have had to back track up to 50 miles because of their GPS directions. 1-877-497-6161

UPDATE:  ROADS ALL REOPENED ON 4/25/10

First Snow of the Season!

For several days the weather reporters talked about snow....causing shortages of Milk & Bread in the grocery stores! Today I woke up to a rain and snow mix, finally turning to snow mid-morning. It will warm up and melt tomorrow, but we'll enjoy the beauty of it today!

We have a few folks camping in their RVs this weekend. Call us and plan a Winter Camping Trip. Our rates are reduced in the winter and there are lots of things to do in Cherokee & the surrounding area. Toll-Free 1-877-497-6161
