April 23-25, 2010: Cherokee Survivors' Motorcycle Rally, three day swap meet, games, vendors, food and great entertainment.
May 14-16, 2010: Cruise the Smokies Spring Cherokee Rod Run , come see more than 500 classic and customized autos built before 1972.
May 28-29, 2010: Swain County Heritage Festival, Bryson City celebrates mountain heritage with great Gospel, Blue Grass and Country music. Arts & Crafts, great food and games for kids.

At Flaming Arrow Campground we want you to make the most of your time on vacation. When you arrive we'll give you a map with directions to 17 waterfalls in the area and all of the local events will be posted on our bulletin boards.

June 3-5 Gourd Festival, Cherokee

June 4th Unto These Hills outdoor drama, Opening night for 2010, the 60th year

June 5th Music in the Mountains , every Saturday night, 630-830 pm Bluegrass and old-time mountain music. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a free concert.

June 11-13 Gospel Jubilee Weekend, Cherokee Fairgrounds, Local and International Christian Gospel Groups, Food, Vendors

June 15-19 Summerfest Carnival, Cherokee Fairgrounds, Rides & Food

Our Favorite Camping Recipes

Campfire Version of the Blooming Onion

Several Vidalia Onions (1/2 - 1 per person)
Margerine or Butter
Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil
Campfire with hot coals

Cut the top off of your onions, but leave the skin on. Pry the onion open a little and put a few pats of butter around inside the onion, salt & pepper to taste. Wrap it in heavy duty aluminum foil and put it down in the hot coals. Turn the onions occasionally to keep them from burning. After about 30-40 minutes your onions will be cooked to perfection. Delicious!

Breakfast Burritos

1 lb. Bulk Sausage
Chopped Green Pepper
Chopped Onion
Sliced Mushrooms
Eggs -- 2 per person
Cheese
Flour Tortillas
Salsa

After cooking the sausage and draining off the fat, add the vegies and saute until softened. Set the meat and vegies aside, scramble the eggs and add the meat and vegies back. Warm the tortillas on the grill or campfire, fill it with the meat & egg mixture and add cheese and salsa to taste. Easy and delicious!
